John Coltrane – A Love Supreme (Vinyl, LP, Album, Remastered, Gatefold, 180g)

If you were allowed to own just one John Coltrane album, it would have to be A Love Supreme. In Coltrane's comparatively short career, there is no other album that could have repeated both the commercial success and the excellent reviews - up to and including Grammy nominations. The album from 1964 offers only four tracks - and all three are a praise of the Lord, without whom Coltrane, in his own opinion, could never have created such music

The John Coltrane Quartet in this case still consists of Jimmy Garrison on bass, McCoy Tyner on piano and Elvin Jones on drums. The combo puts in a lot of effort and if this album were longer, the listener would have to be provided with a towel so that the drops of sweat from the musicians flying out of the speakers wouldn't become too big a problem
